Since 1938, Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania has proven to be a vital health partner in northeastern and north central Pennsylvania. Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania got its start right here in Wilkes-Barre in 1938. After just one year, membership had risen to an impressive 10,140. Back then, a family could be covered for $1.90 per month. In return, each family member was guaranteed up to 21 days of hospital care.

Today, we’re nearly 600,000 members strong, and proudly serve the many businesses and families within our highly diverse 13-county service area.
